If you’re here from Brooke and Skyler’s Roan Mountain blog, you’ll know that I mention the weather up there can change very quickly. This happened with Maggie and Jason’s elopement! As a Lubbock Texas elopement photographer, the weather stays pretty much the same year round – dusty. The weather was amazing on the drive up the mountain – so sunny and amazing views! I met up with this cute family and started the hike up. About halfway up, I could tell that the weather was about to change. You could literally see the fog rolling across the mountains. I shot quickly so I could get some of those stunning mountains in view!
And then the fog happened! While most couples come to this location for the mountain views, weather happens and fog can be a quite beautiful. However, the temperature drops and visibility becomes horrible. If you’re not familiar with the area and trails or ill-prepared with no lighting or emergency equipment, these romantic shoots can become dangerous quickly.
Although the weather kept us on our feet and we ended up shooting single portraits in the pitch black dark (I 100% do not recommend!), we got some great shots to remember an amazing time in this sweet families lives.
I shot this elopement in Fall of 2020 in East Tennessee. As a Lubbock Texas elopement photographer, I am now accepting new couples for the 2021-2022 season!
